The things mentioned below are true to my knowledge, and I'm sure most of you aren't aware of these facts. We all are aquainted with these verses, few of them haunted us, few of them made us laugh. YES, I'm talking about the nursery rhymes, we were forced to deliver them infront of strange strangers just to prove that...YES I"M A SMART KID! ALthough we aren't (well most of us).
Keeping them aside, there's one more aspect to them, the REALITY. The circumstances involving the evolutions of these rhymes are a lil bit disheartening unlike when we hear them from a sweet innocent kid. To present you with few examples-
BABA BLACK SHEEP, HAVE YOU ANY WOOL-
baba black sheep, have you any wool?
yes sir, yes sir...3 bags full!
one for the master, one for the dame...one for the little boy who lives down the lane!
EVOLTUOION- few centuries back, there was this tradition in U.K. that whatever the farmer cultivated must be divided into three parts, one for the master that's the landlord...one for the dame which signifies the queen of england and one for the poor boy and that's the farmer himself!
the three bags of wool signifies the crop cultivated by the poor boy!
RINGA RINGA ROSES, POCKETS FULL OF POSES-
ring ringa roses, pockets full of poses
husha busha...we all fall down!
EVOLUTION- this one comes from the state of affirs of EUROPE which was severly hit by an epidemic (chicken pox)...ringa ringa roses is a metaphor for the pox, which was spread all over the body...and eventually it led to death so the pockets were full with white flowers used in graveyards...husha busha we al fell down...which said that ultimately everyone has to die!
Well I might not to be true but this is what I know about them, if any bugging is to be done... I would appreciate the suggestions!
